All three Dayton papers felt that Perrin deserved to win the decision. Marinelli probably clinched the decision in his favor, when he dropped Perrin early in the 10th round for no-count with a right hand to the jaw. The Dayton Herald reported that Perrin used a left jab to control the fight against Marinelli, who though the aggressor, missed most of his punches.
