Polite suffering from a badly swollen left eye entering the 8th round. He was knocked down twice for eight-counts by left hooks, before he was knocked down for a third time by a right hand for a nine-count. Upon rising, Polite was bleeding from his nose and mouth as well, and the bout was stopped. Polite had out-boxed Rangel in the first two rounds, before Rangel was able to impose his rough, infighting style on Polite.
