After winning the first two rounds, Alvarez dropped Johnson with a right hand to the jaw, for a nine-count. The two traded after that, and Johnson answered with a right hand of his own that dropped Alvarez for nine. Johnson pummeled Alvarez after he rose, and nearly floored him with a right hand, before the round ended. Alvarez crowded Johnson after that and swept rounds four through six, which were more than enough to stave off a late round rally by Johnson.
