Earlier, on March 12, the Tacoma Times reported that Art Yordy had a bout scheduled in Bellingham March 24 vs. Romeo Hagen, after which he planned to retire from boxing. [1]. The March 27 Tacoma Times also reported that this would be his final career bout. [2]

However, the paper reported in early April that Yordy had an upcoming bout in Bellingham with Kid Williams, Chicago middleweight. [3]. And then he had a bout scheduled Dec. 22, 1913 in Fraser Mills, British Columbia. [4]

(In early March, the Tacoma Times reported that Yordy had fought three bouts in three days, including one with Battling Christy. [5][6].)

The March 20, 1913 Tacoma Times reported that he had started boxing amateur bouts while in high school in Tacoma. His family later moved north to Bellingham. By then he had over 60 career bouts and reportedly had lost only three. [7]
