"The bout was a good one all the way, with both fighters mixing freely and swinging haymakers all the time. Halligan, a true club fighter, kept rushing in to rough the popular Reno lightweight about the ring and landed some stiff wallops. Ross was fresher than he seemed in his last bout and landed the faster and cleaner heavy punches, one of which opened such a deep cut over Halligan's left eye that Eddie couldn't answer the bell for the fourth."
