Larry Cartwright 160 lbs beat Billy Arnold 155 lbs by TKO in round 2 of 10
- Date: 1948-09-10
- Location: Civic Auditorium, Reno, Nevada, USA
- Referee: Danny Murphy
The first round was tame. In the second, Arnold caught Carter with two hard hooks and then threw a whistling right which spun him accross the ring and opened a cut under Carter's eye. The two stood toe to toe swapping punches with both hands. Referee Danny Murphy stopped the action and had the ringside physician examine Carter's cut. When action resumed, Carter came out of his corner like a whirlwind and caught Arnold flush on the button with a short left and then fired two more smoking lefts to the face as Arnold staggered back. Arnold went down with a crash, one arm draped over the bottom rope. He dragged himself up and was promptly met with a fourth left hand shot which dumped him for a six count. Game to the core, Arnold got up once more but was hit by still another left as he hung helpless on the ropes in the corner. Murphy stepped in and stopped the fight, but Arnold was out cold on his feet. It took his handlers a good five minutes to bring him around.
