Barriere was able to outbox the hard-hitting St. Pierre for most of the bout. St. Pierre hurt Barriere in the 2nd round with a left to the jaw, and in the 7th round dropped him to the bottom strand ropes with a left hand to the jaw. Barriere took a nine-count and was dropped right after that by a right hand to the chin for a one-count. Barriere hurt St. Pierre in the 5th round with a right cross, and dropped him for no-count in the 10th round.
