Murphy won the first two rounds, shaking up Levinsky in both rounds with overhand rights. Levinsky turned the fight around in the 3rd round, when he knocked Murphy down with a short right hand to the chin. Levinsky knocked him down again in the 3rd round for a six-count, and floored him again in the 4th round. Murphy made his last stand in the 5th round, shaking up Levinsky with a right and left, before retreating to boxing out of shell in the last half of the bout.
