Roper came out aggressively to being the fight, landing a low blow on Metoquah, that required him to have a brief rest. Roper would then knock Metoquah down for a nine-count before the round was over, though Metoquah evened up the round, per the Pasadena Post. Metoquah dominated the fight after that, and handed Roper a lacing. In the 9th round Metoquah, finally dropped Roper, who was counted out.
