Vickers had a good first round, as he landed many left jabs and left hooks, that bloodied Vaughn's nose. Vaughn did land a hard blow to the heart that may have been telling near the end of the round. Vickers would collapse in an apparent faint at the start of the 2nd round, and the referee stopped the bout. The ringside physician determined that Vickers condition was legitimate, with Vickers claiming that this had happened to him before in the 7th round of another bout.
