Danny Hirsch (Carrol) beat Ron Wilson (Ivory) on a t.k.o. in the seventh round. Wilson had to retire owing to cuts above both eyes. The fight was good till the ending, with Wilson just ahead on points, with Danny pegging along and getting the range for right-hand shots, and it would have been interesting to see how Ronnie would have weathered the storm over concluding stages. Wilson was going well with sting and purpose in his attack. He was fast- on his feet and placed his punches nicely. Hirsch was also faster than usual and used a left rip to the body, following up with the right, and looked like his tactics of wearing his man down was the plan. It was unfortunate that the bout ended the way it did, but those are one of life’s happenings.
