Hank dropped Cotton in the second, but seemed reluctant to end it. Hank hit the game Cotton at will thereafter, but was content to allow Cotton to force the action. Just before the end of the 8th round Cotton caught Hank with a sneak right hand and had him wobbling at the bell. However, Cotton was not allowed to come out for the ninth round due to a severe cut inside his mouth.
