After dominating most of the bout, Diaz nailed Burton with a right-left-right to the head while Burton backed to the ropes. He collapsed to the floor and the referee stopped it immediately, without a count. Diaz had suffered a nose bleed in round nine. ESPN announcer Teddy Atlas scored the bout as 7-3-1 through round eleven. ESPN reported that Diaz threw 550 blows in rounds eight through ten, but did not give a final blows total.
