• Date: 1955-07-12
• Location: Memorial Auditorium, Sacramento, California, USA

Franks "was butted by John Milton of Oakland in the third round, suffering a fractured jaw and three teeth knocked out. The ref ruled it a deliberate butt, and since Hestel was ahead on points at the time, the official raised the hand of the prostrate fighter." (Nevada State Journal)
