Alabama Kid delivered a disappointing performance following his impressive stoppage of Leo Duncan the week before in Dayton. The Dayton Herald felt the decision was fair, while the Dayton Daily News felt the best Alabama Kid should have gotten was a draw. The crowd booed the decision. Jackson showed a good defense in the bout, and managed to cut Alabama Kid's left eye, which he worked on the entire fight.
