Parisian Marcel Pigou used youth and a late round rally Saturday night to take a split decision over old warhorse Ralph (Tiger) Jones in a nationally televised 10-round bout. Each fighter weighed 159 1/4. Jones, a 33-year-old New Yorker making his 42nd television appearance, built up a lead in the middle rounds but tired badly in the last two rounds. Pigou, bleeding from two cuts, opened up a two-handed attack in the last two rounds, winning the ninth big and taking the 10th without difficulty. He fought mostly in flurries, countering Jones' lead. [Associated Press, November 6, 1960)
