Polee was a substitute for Mickey McAvoy who was injured in a car accident the day before. Polee won the 1st round, reddening Rosenbloom's face with his left jab. In the 2nd round, he allowed Rosenbloom to slap him around. In the 3rd round, Polee went down, and appeared ready to be counted out, until the referee waved him to get to his feet. In the 5th round Rosenbloom got Polee to retreat rapidly from a long hook and right hand, that caused Polee to trip and go to both elbows. Polee rose at the count of nine, and was then hit with a right to the mid-section and a left to the neck. Polee went down again, this time for the count, as his corner's towel fluttered in as he was being counted out.
