"Charley Neary failed to come back in his bout with Kid Graves in the Auditorium Wednesday night. He lasted ten rounds, that was all. The fans, who were all with Neary, were relieved when the gong clanged. (..) Graves was too fast. In only three rounds, the third, ninth and tenth, did Charlie make any kind of a showing. He flashed for brief instants and when he did the crowd cheered, but they were only flashes. The bell saved him from a knockout in the fifth round. Graves, who had been using a left almost continually, suddenly crashed a right on Neary's jaw. The former idol dropped to his hands and knees, for the count of seven.
