The Fall River Herald News described this as one of Lowry's best performances he had ever given in Fall River, as he used his left jab nicely and landed three or blows at times without return. Lowry rose swelling on Savold's face from right hands, and cut him over the left eye in the 6th round, and then closed the eye in the 7th round. Savold fought better in the 8th and 9th rounds, as he landed short powerful blows. Feeling he had the decision sewn up, Lowry fought a defensive final round.
The decision was booed, as most appeared to believe Lowry had won. The Fall River Herald News favored Lowry 6-3-1 in rounds.
