After battering Ecklund for the first seven rounds, Fox jumped off his stool like a flash in the 8th round and hit Ecklund until he staggered around the ring helpless. Referee Bud Oliver, then stopped the fight. This was Fox's Portland debut, and his first bout since his draw with Leon (Bombo) Chevalier, according L.H. Gregory's column in the June 11, 1933 Portland Oregonian. Fox came to Portland two weeks before this with stablemate and fellow barnstormer Leroy (Wildcat) Gibson, after Gibson had landed a fight with Elmer (Buzz) Brown in Portland.
