DeHate scored three knockdowns in the early rounds, and appeared headed for victory when LaSalle knocked him down with a right to the jaw. DeHate's corner threw in the towel as he was down, and he was subsequently dragged to his corner after several minutes.

DeHate had substituted for Johnny Adams who pulled out of the bout with injured ribs.
