McMurray knocked Richardson down in the 1st round, and had him in trouble two other times. In the 5th round, Richardson closed McMurray's right eye with a left hook, that also opened a bad cut on the eye. Acknowledging after the bout, that he felt he needed to go for the knockout due to the injury, McMurray went for the knockout in the 6th round. Richardson would knocked McMurray down in the 6th round, with a left hook to the chin. Though McMurray just beat the count, the referee stopped the bout.
