Rodriguez won the first two rounds with his body work. Hutchins would take the third round, as he worked his way inside to work on Rodriguez's body. In the 4th round, Hutchins nearly floored Rodriguez with a right hand, forcing his opponent to fall forward on him to avoid going down. In the 5th round, two sharp rights to the head sent Rodriguez to the canvas. Rodriguez rose at nine, but was quickly floored for the count by the same combination.
