This was described as one of the best fights in San Diego history. In the 1st round, Berglund floored Cobb with a right to the jaw. Cobb rose at the count of eight, and a few seconds later floored Berglund with a left for an eight-count. In the 2nd round, Berglund again dropped Cobb with a right hand, for another eight-count. Cobb turned the tables in the 3rd round, knocking Berglund down for a nine-count with a right to the jaw, and then using another right hand to put Berglund down for an eight-count. In the 4th round, Cobb was more careful with his right hand, and was hurt by a right hand to the jaw from Berglund. In the 5th round, Cobb put Berglund down for a fourth time. Cobb also won the 6th round, with Berglund winning the 7th round. In the 8th round, Cobb drove Berglund to the ropes, with Berglund trying to fight him off with a body attack. Cobb then finished Berglund, by feinting with his left hand, and then shooting a right hand to the jaw that put Berglund down. It took Berglund's corner close to a minute to revive him.
