Harmon was competitive with Saddler until the 5th round, when he began to take a beating. Harmon had a good start to the 7th round, but Saddler regained control, and had Harmon in trouble to end the round. In the 8th round, Saddler hurt Harmon with a hard left along the ropes, and drove in two more punches that prompted the referee to stop the bout. Harmon was carried to his corner, and subsequently taken out on a stretcher, and to the local hospital, via ambulance.
