In danger of losing his IBF junior middleweight championship, Philadelphia's Buster Drayton unleashed a left hook followed by a solid right that ended his fight with France's Said Skouma in the 10th round.
After a shaky start, Skouma had taken control, wobbling the champion in the fourth round and boxing well until the finish. But the always-dangerous Drayton found the range in the 10th, sending the challenger to the canvas.
Skouma rose at the count of four, then held the top rope as American referee Joe O’Neil completed the mandatory eight. When O'Neil reached eight, Skouma sagged forward with his head down and his corner tossed in the towel. Confusion reigned as the two resumed fighting while the ring was invaded by cornermen and spectators.
O'Neil threw his arm around Skouma, calling the fight while he ordered the ring cleared.
