Eddie Miller roared off his stool and smashed Steve Izzy with half a dozen lefts and rights for a knockout in 46 seconds of the third round at the Parkway Arena and got away with this unique kayo. Izzy was squatting on the stool after having been saved by the bell in the previous session, when the bell sounded. The water bucket was still in the ring and the seconds were just getting out when Miller rushed forth and let Izzy have it, stool or not. Referee Purcell counted Izzy out and later explained that since the bell sounded, there was no alternative. But he was mistaken. He should have seen to it that the ring was cleared of the water bucket and the fighter was off his stool before Miller could take advantage of the situation and land the haymaker.
