"Tommy Herman, Dayton, O., went down without being hit last night when he tackled Ted Marchant, of England, for a 12-round no decision bout at Riverside Arena. He was unable to fight, his knees sagging in the sixth. Marchant won on a technical knockout, but he would have won in the finish as well if the bout had proceeded, as a he was on top thruout." The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that Herman injured on his eyes in training, and that Marchant had opened a cut over the other eye, and that Herman's face was covered in blood by the 2nd round.
