OAKLAND: After having over 100 amateur fights, it took Frankie Moynihan only 55 seconds into round 1 to see the difference between amateur and professional boxing. Jose Luis Cordoba, a crafty typical mexican fighter from Los Angeles Ca. landed a crisp right hand to Moynhan's jaw, dropping him to one knee and scoring a knock down. Moynihan was up quickly, easily beating the 10 count, and actually won round 1 on all judges scorecards, throwing wide open left hooks and straight right hands to the head of Cordoba. Moynihan showed the raw power that had landed him a professional career, as he went left hook silly on Cordoba.

Moynihan seemed to throw hard punches throughout the early rounds, but not all of them landed. Those that did were easily seen by the crowd, as Cordoba's reaction was that of someone that was hit by a truck. Cordoba hung on for the remainder of the fight and won what was a very crowd pleasing fight by points. Cordoba is coming off a loss to junior middleweight sensation Terry Norris last August.
