Ed Tiernan beat Johnny Reinberger by PTS in round 6 of 6
- Date: 1928-03-29
- Location: Columbus Hall, Yonkers, New York, USA
Article from NY paper: "Tiernan outboxed the Yonkers boy in the first round, but Reinberger was fighting carefully and managed to get across a few hard drives to the body. Again in the second round Tiernan's left hand proved the undoing of the local boy. Reinberger ran into a terrific left and right on the chin at the bell which shook him from head to foot. In a furiuos rally a few seconds from the end of a hard fought third round, Tiernan had the local boy reeling around. Reinberger, game to the core, offering wild lefts and rights, stood off the sharp shooting New Yorker to the bell. Far from a beaten fighter, Reinberger was up fast and won the fourth round by a decisive margin. Johnny drove home more than a few hard rights to Tiernan's jaw which Eddie far from liked. Coming back fast in the fifth, Tiernan grabbed a shade of the fighting in this round. Reinberger fought aggressively but Tiernan's countering seemed to keep him out in front. Tiernan led in the sixth whipping his left to the face. Johnny rushed and connected to the body with his right. Reinberger was doing most of the leading and landed a few good shots to the face. A terrific right to the chin almost toppled Johnny, but the local fighter was game and kept swinging. It was Tiernan's round."
