A hard blow was not struck until the 3rd round, when both finally scored with right hands. Adgie appeared unable to land on McTigue, who appeared content to tie Adgie up in close. Late in the 3rd round, an insect appeared to get in McTigue's right eye, and irritate him. In the middle of the 4th round, McTigue landed a low blow, that bent Adgie over in pain. Adgie was helped to his corner, and it was announced that he was the winner on a foul.
