Hafer won the first round, but was floored by a left hook to the jaw in the 2nd round for a nine-count. A right cross knocked Hafer down again for a nine-count. Hafer got up and fought back with Haynes for the remainder of the round. Haynes knocked Hafer down for a third time in the 3rd round with a left hook, for another nine-count. Hafer was then knocked down for a fourth time, for an eight-count, with a left hand. Haynes appeared exhausted after scoring his fourth knockdown of the fight as Hafer pressed the action with him. Haynes recovered before the round was over and scored another knockdown for a nine-count with a left hand. Haynes then sent Hafer down for a sixth time with a right hand, this time for the count.
