- Lomski was the aggressor and on the verge of a knockout but the bell saved McTigue, who "beat a hasty retreat" in the first three rounds, which caused the crowd to boo their displeasure. McTigue then cut loose with rights to the head, which opened an old wound over Lomski's left eye. In the fifth, Lomski showered McTigue's head with both fists, ripping a cut on the forehead and over McTigue's left eye. McTigue's left ripped a cut an inch long under Lomski's right eye. McTigue staggered in the seventh and eighth, enjoyed a brief rally in the ninth, and retreated before a hard two-fisted bombardment in the tenth. Associated Press
