Harry Matthews 177 lbs beat Maynard Jones 192 lbs by KO at 2:31 in round 2 of 10
- Date: 1951-11-29
- Location: Auditorium, Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA
- After a fairly even first round, Matthews exploded in the second with a series of left jabs and roundhouse rights to send Jones to the canvas three times, twice for eight counts and once for no-count.
- Matthews opened the second with a heavy right to the chin of the heavier Jones. A sharp left jab followed by a right cross dropped the Philadelphia boxer the first time. He got up at the count of four, but under Minnesota rules had to take an eight-count. A terrific right to the chin put Jones to sleep for the final count.
- A crowd of 5,500 paid about $14,000 to watch the card.
