"ATLANTIC CITY — To hear some people tell it, Calvin Grove is so washed up, he should be doing commercials for laundry detergent.
But Grove, a former International Boxing Federation featherweight champion, has a habit of bouncing back whenever it seems his tired, old legs have lost their spring.
Grove (47-7, 17 knockouts), who announced his retirement after a fifth- round technical-knockout loss to World Boxing Council lightweight champion Miguel Angel Gonzalez on Dec. 13, launched his latest comeback with an impressive, 10-round unanimous decision over John Brown (12-2, 5 KOs) in the junior lightweight main event last night at Caesars Atlantic City.
Judges Rocky Castellani and Melvina Lathan both had Grove ahead, 96-93, and Barbara Perez had it, 95-94. Grove also led on the Daily News card, 97-92."
