Troy, New York. In the May 6 issue of The Police News, Rob Roy Benton wrote," Doc Payne...has been defeated by a fifth class pugilist in the person of Stockings Conroy. I want to make some excuse for the ignominious defeat of Payne, but I am at a loss of what to say. Wonder if it was the English system of training or bad working?
