The fighters fought at a contracted weight limit of 165 pounds. Anderson was down in the sixth, and was nearly dropped again in the 8th from a body shot. Anderson appeared to outbox Lomski for most of the bout though. Lomski's manager Eddie Eicher would complain bitterly about the decision in this bout. A few days later a minor scandal emerged when it was revealed that someone had forged Portland matchmaker Joe Waterman's name to several letters sent to various newspapers claiming that Lomski had been robbed.
