• Date: 1942-03-02

The Baltimore Afro-American reported that Cocoa Kid completely outclassed Williams; mauling his opponent almost at will. The Associated Press incorrectly reported this fight as being a 12-rounder. The Baltimore Sun also had Cocoa Kid as a clear winner. The Sun felt Cocoa Kid defeated Williams by refusing to fight at long range, as he worked his body.
