Heavyweight Ed "Iron Man" Gutierrez was successful again in his rematch with Eric French who has become the trial horse to test the mettle of Heavyweight fighters. Gutierrez, now 15-0-1, 6 KO's won a unanimous decision by scores of 58-56, and 59-55 twice. With a record of 10-35-3, 4 KO's, the 40 year old French is clearly not out to get back into contention for any heavyweight titles. But French does not come to just lie down in the ring either. If a heavyweight faces French he had better be prepared to get hit, and hard! With very little holding, and a steady work rate, this was a competitive and exciting six round heavyweight fight. Both men stood toe to toe and traded their hardest punches, trying to make the other back down. Gutierrez was the busier of the two, but French had the better power and execution. In the end, it was Gutierrez that controlled the better portion of the fight, earning him the judges nod.
