"Alton Colter of Phoenix rallied in the last four rounds Wednesday night to score a stunning split decision over Japan's Fighting Harada, the former world bantamweight champion, in a 10-round bout. Colter, six inches taller than Harada, amazed the crowd at Korakuen Hall in the last half of the fight. He stung Harada continuously with jabs and repeatedly rocked his opponent, who was ranked No. 2 among the WBA's featherweight contenders. Referee Ko Toyama warned Colter for running away in the 5th round and for holding as the 8th round opened. But Colter unleased a savage attack on Harada and it was a wonder he did not go down. Both of Colter's eyes were swollen but he fought hard to the final bell." -United Press International
