"Jack Dempsey, American heavy weight boxing champion, has gone the limit in backing the National Thrift Campaign. He is here shown buying a $1000 Treasury Savings Certificate from Mr. J. L. Anderson, Treasury Department representative in St. Louis, Mo." ($100 Treasury Savings Certificates cost in October $84.20; $1,000 Treasury Savings Certificates cost in October $842.00).
