This image of Pete Sanstol comes from the August 25, 1928 edition of the LaPresse newspaper of Montreal, QC, Canada. For years (roughly 1928 to 1932) this newspaper included a full-color insert into its Sunday edition. These poster inserts usually were of popular athletes who had some ties to, or had appeared in, Montreal. Ice hockey players and boxers were common, but people from other sports were featured as well.
As happened quite a few times during his boxing career, this poster reported Sanstol as being years younger than he actually was: 18, when he was in fact 23 at this time.
