"Puerto Rican Miguel Berrios scored a surprise split decision over Flash Elorde of the Philippines, the No. 4 ranking featherweight. Berrios appeared confused by the left-handed style of the Filipino but caught on about the 5th round. Elorde looked best in the opening rounds as his right-hand lead kept Berrios off balance most of the time. Fighting was close all the way and there were no knockdowns. Elorde suffered a small cut near the corner of his left eye in the 7th and another over his right eye in the 10th. Neither slice seemed to bother him. Berrios apparently found the key to his victory in an attack in which he started low, hooked with his left and then moved in." -Associated Press
