"Gabriel (Flash) Elorde of the Philippines regained the Oriental lightweight championship Saturday night by carving out a unanimous decision over Teruo Kosaka of Japan. Elorde dominated the fight throughout and when it was over Kosaka was well-beaten with cuts near his right eye and right cheek, a bloody nose and a closed left eye. Elorde, who lost his title to Kosaka in Tokyo last April, suffered a small cut on his right cheek. In the 5th round, Elorde staggered Kosaka with a left hook to the chin that had the Japanese fighter wobbling on rubbery legs at the bell. A crowd of 18,000 watched the 12-round bout in the newly built Cebu Stadium." -United Press International
