"Flash Elorde, 130, of the Philippines retained his world junior lightweight title by knocking out Japan's Teruo Kosaka in the final minute of their brutal 15-round fight Saturday night. The Filipino dominated the bout and floored Kosaka five times - in the 3rd, 4th, 13th and twice in the 15th rounds. The final knockdown brought a dramatic end to the bloody battle staged before 40,000 spectators at the Araneta Stadium. A series of rights to the head put Kosaka out on his feet, then Elorde stepped back and whistled in a crushing overhand right that dropped the younger boxer. Struggling gamely, Kosaka got to his feet at the count of eight. But before the fight could resume he toppled to the canvas. The end came at 2:14 of the 15th round." -Associated Press
