  • Date: 1955-10-13
  • Location: Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles, California, USA
  • Referee: Frankie Van

The bout prior to the main event, featuring Pimi Barajas and Jackie Spurgeon, resulted in a riot after Barajas won a split decision over Spurgeon, whom the crowd favored. Bottles were thrown in the ring for nearly ten minutes, until Spurgeon entered the ring, and announced that he had agreed to rematch Barajas in two weeks.

Brad showed no fear of Patterson in the opening moments of the bout, throwing shots to the head and body. About a minute into the bout, Patterson landed a left hook to the jaw, which floored Brad for an eight count. Brad rose on unsteady legs, with a large gash over his left eye, and then went on the defensive. Eventually Patterson trapped him in a corner, and fired away at him, before landing a right hand which floored Brad for the count.
