"Floyd Patterson of Brooklyn, stopped Yvon Durelle of Baie St. Anne, New Brunswick, Canadian light heavyweight champion, in the 5th round of their scheduled 10 round non-title bout Thursday night. Durelle, nursing a hand injury and bleeding from a cut on the upper lip, survived the 5th round but did not come out for the 6th. he signaled he had enough, and referee Petey Scalzo of New York then stopped the bout. It was Patterson all the way. The Brooklyn battler pounded the Canadian champion almost at will." -Canadian Press
