- The end of the bout came when Velardez, as the fighters stood approximately in ring center, landed a pair of left hands to the head of Trumpet. Trumpet stumbled back onto the ropes, then stood still and looked over to referee Ruben Carrion. Velardez seemed surprised at Trumpet's reaction, as he stood where he was and did not attempt to follow up right away. As Velardez at last moved in to continue the attack, Carrion stopped the fight. The time of stoppage was given as 2:16.
