Francisco Arroche weighed in at 153lbs. It was my third professional bout and because my corner men were on their way but not present yet at time of weigh-in, my inexperience yielded to promotor Don Elbaum. I weighed in then Francisco Arroche weighed-in 6 (six) lbs. over our contract weight. I immediately expressed to Mr. Don Elbaum, "He's (my opponent Francisco Arroche) got to lose some weight before we fight." Mr. Elbaum quickly pulled my aside and said, "Don't worry about the weight, it'll look good for you to knock out a (jr.) middleweight." I complied.

I was a puncher more than a boxer but Francisco Arroche was bigger and more experienced. Arroche fought hard and won the fight but I gave it my best and learned a lot from the fight AND the weigh-in.
