Originally announced as a draw, then as a win for Botha and finally confirmed as a draw. Botha fought a slow bout with Carrion, who was deducted a point in round seven for repeated low blows, that looked more like a sparring session. Botha claimed after the bout that he injured his right hand in the first round, changing his 'game plan' for the twelve round bout. However, it appeared that Botha had great difficulty coping with Carrion's 6' 7 ½" height advantage, not with his right hand.
